Flavours of France Cookery School is the centre of La Rochelle, a lively coastal town in the Poitou Charentes region and capital of the Charente-Maritime department.

We are based on the Rue Gargoulleau in the Historic Quarter.

The Chef – Laurent

“Cooking should be relaxing and fun. During the classes I try and get the guests to think like chefs and be creative. It is great to hear from people who have recreated the dishes after the course.

As a chef I have been lucky enough to have worked in different parts of the world from Toronto to Caracas. My time abroad has influenced the way I cook for example I'll make a tuna tartar with Indian spices!

La Rochelle has always been home for me which is why after many years of travelling, I decided to return. One of my favourite things to do in summer is go for a family picnic on the nearby Island, Ile de l'Aix. The coast is beautiful and from April it starts to get really warm. Life is simple here; all you need is good food and good wine!”
